about The Last Psychiatrist

The Last Psychiatrist is a weblog about our failure to be critical. Why do we practice the way we practice? How do we know what we know?
I am an academic psychiatrist specializing in forensics. I've written many articles and book chapters in psychiatry as well as other disciplines, and have lectured extensively throughout the country. I was selected as one of the "Best Doctors In America" (top 5%, selected by my peers (i.e. other academics in the incestuous world of acedemia)). So I'm not some anti-psychiatry, anti-pharma nut.
Some of the articles are written with the assistance of people more expert in the particular field, but all posts should be taken as my opinions and not the those of the institutions for which I work. And they are not recommendations for an individual's specific treatment.
The blog is updated Tuesdays and Fridays, at least.
The blog is funded through ads and, of course, donations (hint.)
